Safe and Sound Protocol

What is the SSP?

The SSP is an evidence-based listening therapy that helps people to think, feel and connect better with themselves, other people and the world around them through nervous system regulation.

It involves listening to specially filtered music through headphones alongside a provider, either in-person or remotely.

As a certified provider I work with clients through initial assessment to personalise SSP delivery to their individual needs and goals. I support and guide my clients in sessions, providing relevant psycho-education and monitoring throughout the SSP journey.

Dr Stephen Porges

The author of Polyvagal Theory

Dr Stephen Porges is the author of Polyvagal Theory and the creator of the Safe and Sound Protocol. Polyvagal Theory focuses on what is happening in the body and the nervous system, and explains how our sense of safety, danger or life-threat can impact our behaviour.

Understanding Polyvagal Theory gives us a scientific framework that can be applied through physiological, or ‘bottom-up’ therapies, to help change and improve how we feel, think and connect with others.
